Hartford HCV for chronically Homeless

ANNOUNCEMENT 

The City of Hartford, Department of Development Services announces that it will be opening their Housing Choice Voucher waiting list for household who meet the Chronically Homeless Preference. The voucher program offers rent subsidies to households who meet the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) eligibility guidelines.

In order to qualify for this preference, pre-applicants must be able to verify that they meet the definition of either A or B: A) An individual or family who has been staying in an emergency shelter or place not meant for human habitation for a year continuously or on 4 occasions in the last 3 years that total 12 months and has a diagnosable disability as defined by HUD and they are referred by Journey Home on behalf of the Greater Hartford Coordinated Access Network, a consortium of over 20 different homeless service agencies or B) they are a tenant in good standing enrolled in a Permanent Supportive Housing program in the Greater Hartford Region who no longer require intense supportive services. ONLY households meeting this preference will be eligible to apply at this time.

Qualified individuals will be able to access the Chronically Homeless Preference Pre-application form for the waiting list from Journey Home’s website at www.JourneyHomeCT.org/projects/. The Chronically Homeless Preference Pre-application can also be picked up in person at Journey Home’s office at 255 Main Street, 2nd floor in Hartford, CT between the hours of 10:00 am and 3:00 p.m., MondayFriday.

If you meet the above definitions of A or B, are able to submit the referral letter from the Greater Hartford Coordinated Access Network with the pre-application, are 18 years of age or older or an emancipated minor regardless of actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity, or marital status and are a citizen, or a non-citizen with eligible immigration status, can pass a criminal history screening and your income does not exceed the income limits listed below based on family size, please fill out the pre-application form.

Pre-applications will be available starting July 22, 2016. We will notify you for the following reasons: (1) an incomplete pre-application form, (2) if you are not eligible under program policies or (3) with the results of the waiting list selection. The Housing Authority of the City of New Britain (Authority), in partnership with Pennrose, is continuing to accept pre-applications until Friday, December 30, 2016, from persons who are interested in leasing one-bedroom or two bedroom, project-based voucher apartments at The Jefferson.

In order to be eligible, the household’s head, co-head, spouse, or sole member MUST BE AT LEAST 62 YEARS OF AGE, the household must require a one-bedroom or two-bedroom unit, and household income must not exceed income limits applicable to this building. Applicants must be determined “eligible” and “qualified” within the rules and regulations of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Pre-applications are available at the Authority’s main office at 16 Armistice Street, New Britain., or from the Authority’s website: www.nbhact.org. An application may also be obtained at the Jefferson’s Leasing Office at 2380 Corbin Avenue, New Britain. Submission of more than one pre-application will result in disqualification.

One of the most time-consuming processes in housing a client can be getting them document ready. This webinar focuses on tips to expedite the process of getting the forms in order, from disability verification to housing history for chronic clients, as well as what each kind of program requires and how to lower the barriers to advocate for your client. This webinar includes important updates from DOH, DMHAS, and BOS.

DOH and DMHAS funded agencies are strongly encouraged to have front line and management staff attend. All webinars will be recorded and available online following the live training. This webinar will be followed by several trainings across the state, details on these trainings will be available soon and you can click here for updates.

The Town of Windsor Housing Authority will be accepting applications for the Project based Section 8 waiting list of Fitch Court Apartments.   PBV is a federally-funded program which offers rent subsidies in the Town of Windsor.  All household members must be 55 years of age or older to apply.

East Haven Opens HCV Wait List June 6- 8, 2016

EAST HAVEN HOUSING AUTHORITY 
WAITING LIST OPENING ANNOUNCEMENT – MAY 23, 2016

The East Haven Housing Authority through Imagineers will accept 500 pre-applications to be considered for its Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program waiting list through a computer generate lottery.  The HCV program offers rent subsidies to households who meet the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) eligibility guidelines. 

The pre-application form will be available online beginning June 6, 2016 at 9:00 am until June 8, 2016 at 11:59 pm ET.  You may access the online pre-application form at the following website:  https://www.waitlistcheck.com/CT2561.   

You may access the online pre-application form using any personal computer, laptop, smart phone, or tablet.  There are many public libraries that offer free computer access if you don’t have personal access to a computer.  The Hagaman Memorial Library located at 227 Main Street, East Haven, CT 06512, 203-468-3890 offers computer access Mon 10am-5pm; Tue-Thurs 10am-8pm and Sat 10am-5pm; non-library card holders can request a limited guest pass to access their computers.  

It is the policy of the East Haven Housing Authority to provide reasonable accommodations for those qualified individuals.  To request a reasonable accommodation, please call1-800-560-7268 or 860-522-1028 between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

You will need the following information to fill out the online form: names, social security numbers, birthdates and income information for everyone in the household.     

No pre-applications will be accepted before June 6, 2016 or by hand delivery or fax.  The online pre-application form will detail the specific important information.  Applicants do not need to rush to apply as this wait list is not on a first- come, first-served basis.  All pre-applicants will have an equal opportunity of being selected.  On June 9, 2016 at 12:00 am the waiting list will be closed.
